Hey everyone, I'm a solo dev and I've just uploaded the first public build of my current project, Nova Impact.
The concept is pretty straightforward: it’s an arcade space shooter, but with a heavy focus on RPG-lite upgrades and progression. You get dropped into an arena, try to survive the waves, and collect credits. When you inevitably blow up or finish a run, you use those credits to bolt new modules onto your ship.
For this demo, I’ve capped the progression at level 15. It's enough to let you mess around with a good chunk of the arsenal—you can boost your raw stats, equip support satellites, tweak your firing style, or unlock the Nova Explosion to clear the screen.
The ultimate goal of this build isn't just survival, though. If you grind enough points to hit Rank 1 on the Rookie leaderboard, the game lets you challenge the division Champion. It triggers a score-attack phase where you basically have to outplay them in the arena.
A few quick notes:
You can play it with Mouse & Keyboard or a standard Controller.
I'm actively balancing the game right now. If a module feels completely broken (or useless), or if the difficulty curve feels off, please let me know in the comments. I'm building this game with player feedback in mind.
